“First let me say my ex-husband always went to this place while we were married and he loved it too. I needed front brakes and I thought rotors too! I called around to other places and they basically tried to bust me in the head with outrageous prices into the 500's. I called Boswell and he offered to check to see if I needed rotors beforehand and not just try to make me pay for stuff I didn't need. I actually ended up getting 4 new tires, aligned & balanced, which I knew I needed, along with new front brakes- no rotors needed, all for a decent price. I appreciated their honesty, great customer service, and they have earned my loyalty! This is now my new place and I plan to tell all my friends about them! “I was very impress with Boswell’s service. I was looking around to get different quotes for some work on my son's car and googled different automotive shops and came across Boswell. I called and spoke with a gentlemen by the name Marcus and he was very nice and willing to help me out. Even though I told him that I would call back when my son was ready to get the work done. Marcus called me a couple weeks later just to check in with me to see if I still needed the work done. And I loved that. But I still wasn’t ready. “having was my truck would cut off and not start. I informed Tom what the other repair shops had done but the same old issue with my truck. I decided to take a chance with Bosewell. I told Tom take all the time they needed because I had another vehicle. Let me tell you they went from A to Z to track down the problem. They found the problem and fix it. “We began to take our cars to Boswell's in 2019 after our local trusted mechanic retired and the next mechanic we chose was simply too far away. We were in search of a good, trustworthy, reliable mechanic. We live in Prince George's County and were leery of anyone local. We spent hours reading reviews for local mechanics (all seemed to have poor or mediocre reviews). We then expanded our search - southern Maryland and northern Virginia.

We found a good mechanic over in Fairfax and used their shop several times the last few years but it seemed insane to keep driving all the way over to Fairfax and back...but one does what they have to do to get honest, quality work. So, in 2019 we searched the reviews again and discovered Boswell's in Waldorf. It is still a bit of a drive for us but at least we avoid Wilson Bridge traffic and the insanity of I-495. We have aging cars, so we are facing small repairs here and there. We first took our Pontiac Vibe to Boswell's for tire rotation and a general look-over.

Tom was honest with what he found and gave us recommendations. There was no pressure either way. He gave us the options, shared his thoughts and concerns, and then left the decision to us. We felt we received good service and honest advice, so we decided to continue to use Boswell's when needed.

Several months later we took our piece of crap Ford Fiesta to Boswell's for what we thought was a wheel bearing issue. A few hours after dropping off the car, Tom called us and told us that it was not a wheel bearing issue; rather, he honestly believed the noise was coming from the transmission and he suggested we take the car to the dealer. Tom could have found a make-believe problem with the wheel bearing but he was honest and straightforward.

We are grateful for this honesty, Tom's advice, and for the fact that he did not cheat us out of money with imaginary wheel problems. It is incredibly hard these days to find an automotive shop with such honesty. Most recently, we took our 2004 Ford Focus to Boswell's for an engine issue (idle/stall). We described the problem in detail, and within a few hours Tom called us with the problem and the solution. Thankfully, it was a simple fix and affordable.

The car also had another issue that we were reluctant to fix. When dropping off the car, we explained that the battery had to be disconnected each night because of a parasitic draw that drains the battery quickly. We personally installed an easy disconnect switch ($5 repair) after an automotive electrical system specialist supposedly found the problem several years ago and wanted $2k(!!) to repair.

We opted for the $5 battery disconnect. Tom thought we had been given bad advice/a bad diagnosis years ago, so he offered to spend time retracing the electrical issue. However, we were extremely reluctant. We were not interested in spending $2k on electrical work on a 16-year old car, and what if he found the same issue? Tom was confident the problem was something simple but we were still hesitant because of the $2k price stuck in our heads. We decided to just fix the engine issue and live with our $5 battery disconnect. Boswell's fixed the engine problem and took care of a few other small issues for us, and we happily brought our car home.

The very next day the engine problems returned and we were surprised. Tom had us bring the car back and he was willing to examine the car again and make other repairs if necessary, but he shared with us honestly that he felt us disconnecting the battery each night was undoing the repairs he just made (a computer part was involved). Now we were worried that we were backed into making expensive, unwanted electrical repairs to avoid the battery disconnect. Tom went above and beyond to find the problem for us, overlooking our stupidity and calming our worries. It turns out the automotive electrical shop was entirely wrong with their diagnosis and proposed repair.

What Tom found was a simple, common problem. We felt dumb for believing all these years that it was a $2k repair and avoided the issue when in reality it was a common problem with a simple affordable fix. Tom's honesty and dedication to his customers really shone through, and we are grateful for his willingness to be patient with us and work with us through this problem with the car. Other shops would have made many costly repair suggestions.

Tom found the actual problem and gave us the actual repair solution, and he took the time to explain to us in detail why the battery disconnect was causing problems. There were no unwanted or unnecessary recommendations or repairs. Tom and his team are impressive, and we continue to make the drive down from Prince George's County for such quality work. We can only speak for our experiences, but they have been great so far and we give our recommendation for Boswell's.”

“Ok, ordinarily I don't usually give out a 5 star review unless you roll out the red carpet for me. That being said, I was running errands with my dogs in the car with me when my starter decided it no longer wanted to cooperate with the rest of the mechanicals and resigned effective immediately.

I don't know if you've ever been stuck in a parking lot with two freakin barking dogs and tried to ask people for help. Not happenin'! Fortunately a nice couple braved the canine onslaught to attempt a jump start in case it was the alternator or power issue. But again, lady luck was absent again. I did happen to have Boswell's number stored in my phone from when I needed their assistance with my previous car which was their garage queen. That stupid car must have kept Boswell's in business all on it's own as much as it would break down.

The crane service responded fast, less than 20 minutes which is unheard of from AAA, scooped up my sled got it to the shop and diagnosed the issue. Meanwhile, I still have two dogs, no clue how I'm going to get home and groceries in the back seat from the grocery store I broke down in.

They ordered the part, fixed my ride and I am one happy camper.

Note: I've been a Boswell's customer for over 15 years. Mostly I got great service, several years ago it seemed to have degraded but now it is back to the level of quality that I like to do business with and feel comfortable I can count on the staff to honor their work, save me money and provide quality service.”

“I’d like to give a shout out to Boswells Auto Service in Waldorf.

Tuesday of last week I called to see if they had time to look at my vehicle because it was making an awful noise. A noise that had been going on for a while where over time I had replaced parts, thinking this is it, but did not fix the problem. I knew I couldn’t risk commuting into DC as the noise really amplified over the weekend.

Let me preface by saying, the morning started out by going out to start my other vehicle, on a below freezing morning, and it wouldn’t start.

That’s when I called Boswell’s flustered and at my wits end. Both vehicles down, I wouldn’t be making it in to the office today.

Thankfully, Tom said, “yes drop it off, we’ll look at it after our morning scheduled appointments”. By that afternoon I received a call, the issue was fixed! I was expecting the worst but received the best, not only was it fixed but for a very reasonable price!! Tom informed me of additional maintenance needed, which I had already suspected. I gave him the green light to go ahead. I picked up my vehicle that evening, all work completed without breaking the bank. Wednesday was a peaceful commute – no noise – no worries. First commute in a while I felt at ease.

I am elated and very thankful I called Boswell’s, again. Recently, I’ve heard horror stories from friends who’ve gone to other automotive shops in the area where their vehicle was there for weeks, if not a month, leaving them to find alternative transportation.

“First-time customer and very satisfied. Needed new front brakes -- rotors and pads. Charles was serving as service manager that day (Oct 12, 2018) and he was superb. Kept me informed of progress throughout. We had an excellent conversation about brake operation and wear. After the work was done, I test drove my car to check for any pull to the left or right -- the car stopped very smoothly and straight ahead with my hands off the steering wheel. I've put 100 miles on the car since then (4 days) and the brakes feel fine. Brake parts aren't cheap and when you add in the labor, the whole brake job is expensive, but Boswell's was a far better value than Weingarten GMC just up the road. In fact, it was about 30% less expensive. Jim C.”

Tom and his mechanics consistently provide me with the level of service I long for when I need repairs or maintenance done to my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When they discover the cause for what you bring your vehicle in for they call you back to the shop area to let you see for yourself what is going on and provide an explanation. After searching for and locating parts to repair your vehicle they’ll review total cost before proceeding with the repairs. “I've used Boswell's for years on all of my vehicles. Not one time have I been disappointed with their service. I discovered them through AAA after one of my vehicles broke down. I enjoy the customer service and the mechanics do a great job. They always take the time to explain what my vehicle needs, and then go beyond what's needed. I recently took my vehicle in for a tune-up, and they fixed my tail light as well! The only gripe I had is at least one of the mechanics smokes. I could tell after I got my vehicle back. Our 2008 Honda Odyssey needed a serpentine belt repair. Come to find out there were missing parts of the pulley system causing all the squealing and ultimately causing the belt to come.allnthe way off. Boswell's picked up the van from my house, repaired it and had it ready for me the next business day. Rachel even recommended waiting on the A/C check because they'll be running a special in the spring which will save us money.

Basically, the title & the 5 stars speaks for this entire review, but let me break it down. First of all, the lobby was nice and clean upon my arrival. And trust me, this is definitely significant to some of us due to the fact that I have been in some raunchy places, in which the customer service matched the look. And that brings me to my next point. The customer service was just as I stated, Top Notch. My man, Tom came out to greet me with the friendliest conversation and intro. Highly appreciated! Needless to say that he was very knowledgeable; therefore giving me a detailed explanation that was pertinent to the issue I was having with my vehicle. And the best part about the explanation is the fact that he left nothing out (via the inspection, the work that was need, the price). Again, I've given another segue to my next point. The price was not through the roof at all. It was extremely reasonable; hence the reason for my total satisfaction. Ok, one more thing... and I hope I'm not getting them in trouble by raising people's expectation, but I also received a ride home in the company vehicle while they worked on mine. The shop owner Rob greeted me and asked the reason for my visit, I explained, followed the normal protocol of filling out a brief form and informed him that I would wait in the seating area. Shortly atfterwards the leak that I suspected was the rear differential fluid was confirmed with an explanation as to why. Pricing for labor and parts were presented and agreed upon and the repairs were going to begin as soon as the part arrived.
